Teifi Marshes sits at the mouth of the river Teifi near Cardigan Bay, Wales. It is in wetland areas such as this where many river pollutants accumulate. “We are beginning to see the impacts of things happening further upstream on the reserve,” says Nathan Walton, who works for the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales managing the Teifi Marshes nature reserve. The site has been badly affected by the consequences of intensive farming practices in the past decade, such as increased slurry runoff, as well as seeing higher levels of chemical and plastic pollutants.
